Indiana University - Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

Any idea what it means when portal changes from applicant to application?

there’s a reply a few dozen posts earlier… someone called… basically… nothing definitive… in the reveiw process… same here…

Ours still says ā€œapplicantā€, so I’m thinking ā€œapplicationā€ must be going in the right direction. When did you apply? DD was sent in on 11/1

We did not hear about petition review. We got the generic acceptance package in the mail.

Do we think there will be any more acceptances before the holidays? Or are they on break.

They are not on break, IU could release decisions next week probably through Wednesday. I don’t think they will do it today with all the other ED/EA coming out. I’d still be hopeful for something next week trying to capture the attention of all the kids unfortunately rejected from EA/ED reach schools.

Less hopeful for Kelley reviews, but today was what I was told was their initial planned release target so you never know. They seem to be still working through auto DAs at Kelley.

30 days out from hearing for certain, hard to wait but it will go fast. We still haven’t even opened the admissions packet, you are missing nothing other than not checking the portal anymore.

Agreed - definitely not checking portal obsessively and waiting for mail may be just as well. I have twins who both applied so just waiting patiently…

Did he report a weighted GPA?

No… he reported only UW GPA.

any resources on intl scholarships i could apply for?

Getting really frustrated with how long IU is taking. I know January 15th, but I don’t understand their process and whether they are just accepting high stats right now and engineering their class accordingly or if there is something wrong with our application. Her application is complete and is currently in ā€œapplicationā€ status (whatever that means, it changed from ā€œapplicantā€ about 2-3 weeks ago. My daughter meets the criteria for direct admit to Kelley but will have to submit a petition request due to going to two high schools. I’m really starting to lose hope that she will even be admitted to IU, which is one of her top choices even if she isn’t admitted to Kelley. What is taking so long? If she is going to be rejected we would just like to hear that now rather than in January so she can move on. So frustrating.

Hang in there! I am not a fan of this ā€œsort of rolling, sort of EAā€ process. I much prefer it when schools release all decisions at the same time on the same day. I’m guessing this hybrid is what admissions thought would work best as they switched from rolling to EA this year, but it sure does suck if your kid’s application is one of the stragglers. Hoping for good news for all of our kids next week!

My son’s admission Counseller says that he didn’t get direct admission to Kelley because he changed the school after 10th grade… under this situation the admission office can get confused and hence rejected direct admission…

Any opinion on this ?

Were his submitted stats from the two schools and the Sat/ACT at the minimum ?

If not, nothing to do. If so, have him call and ask the process to appeal. And in the appeal show the facts.

feeling the exact same way right now. i just want to know sooner rather than later and be able to chose from the other schools iu is my last one i’m truly waiting on.

i’m also worried i should change my major from kelley and business iu is my dream school and i’m nervous i won’t get in bc of my major being so competitive

I know this process is emotional and can be frustrating but I’d ask anyone frustrated with IU admissions to take a step back. It’s been 10 days roughly since the last admissions were released. It’s been 3 weeks since they began releasing. And IU was very clear it would answer by Jan 15 and not necessarily before. These are small blips and you have no way of knowing why so why not just assume its because IU hasn’t yet reviewed the app. Because that’s the near certain answer.

People on these sites, by sample size, post about their high stat kids. Many are on here asking about merit for their high stat kids or Kelley TO. IU is admitting not ā€œhigh statā€ kids right now.

The people with Kelley reviews who may not hear until April have real world anxiety - waiting until maybe Jan 15 when IU told us all they would send decisions - maybe less concerning than it seems today. Enjoy the time with your applicants, this process is stressful enough. The odds are massively high you will be accepted to IU.

I believe admission to IU is major blind. You first have to get into IU before Kelley even sees your application.

Anybody in-state receive decisions? Perhaps OOS students are getting their decisions first.
