Son got email about Dean’s scholarship today. Was admitted on Jan 8th. He’s a direct admit to Kelley.
oh…so you can pick the school you send it to??? i thought you did it and they all could see it…
We did. They have a drop down menu to pick the schools.
No one will not admit your son because you file FAFSA.
Need aware may take into account if they don’t like what it says - but those schools may also use CSS.
Some schools encourage everyone to file FAFSA.
Some schools may get giddy at what your FAFSA says…in fact.
what is CSS?
The CSS Profile is a financial aid application form administered by the College Board. There are some schools that require this as part of the financial aid application process. Many are private colleges but there are some public universities that do as well. You need to check each financial aid website for your colleges to see all that needs to be submitted for financial aid consideration.
Many privates and the publics that meet need have an additional form.
FAFSA is for federal aid and high level.
CSS digs deep into your finances, finds all the hidden treasure.
Very helpful. Do you do CSS only to schools you get accepted for…? Or one blanket one ?
FWIW, it’s not free. That is, you pay to send it to a school. I wasn’t able to find out the success rate of getting any aid for high income earners so we chose not to spend time filling it out.
Only certain schools want it. I think 4 out of our list of 9 we applied for used the CSS.
No. Schools you apply to and only those that require it to be considered for aid.
You would know if you applied to one.
How much in dean’s scholarship should a 1480 and a 41/45 IB give you? I think that Kelley may have considered my first score send - a 1390 for my scholarship consideration…
My son applied 10/31. Submitted review request soon after, since he did not take SAT or ACT. Admitted 1/9 Pre-business (Business Exploratory BSB). Received Dean’s scholarship today (email), $8k/ yr. Nothing from Kelley.
I got a deans scholarship of $5k P.A with these stats
A few days ago, My son’s portal page seemed to say he has been admitted. Plus he has received emails saying “congrats,” encouraging him to sign up for an admitted student visit, etc. but we can’t find an actual, formal letter of admission anywhere in the portal that is addressed to him. Is that weird? Does IU not post a letter to the student?
Agree. Less AP’s, lower GPA’s and with influx of apps these colleges had to find a way to weed out lower scores -hence not digging into submissions and cutting at gpa and test score numbers.
Nope, just physical mail.
Deferred for business. OOS, TO, 3.8 GPA, private high school with serious rigor. 8 honors classes, 10 business classes, Over 30 college credits.
but friends with ± 40 have gotten up to 4k more
Question (and apologies if has been discussed already)…D24 direct admitted to Arts & Sciences, and (OOS) received Deans $8K scholarship. But there was no mention of Honors College, for which she well meets the direct admit also. I’m wondering, even though IU accepted self reported test scores, for the direct admit to honors college, did we need to send the official score report from ACT?
