My son has been admitted to IU and they sent us a general scholarship application to be completed which also requests a 1000 word essay for consideration against all scholarships. Review request from Kelly is pending. So don’t know if Dean or any other scholarship is considered until this application is completed?
Just got my IU acceptance!! Got the portal update and I’m DA to Kelley so this is fantastic.

Deans came with admission for my D, but she was direct admit to arts and sciences.

The same site you apply for GSA.
They must not be - my (test optional) son got the Dean’s scholarship and hasn’t received any word on Kelley.
When did you hear about Dean’s scholarship, is there a place to check the requirements for these scholarships? My son got accepted last week. I do not know the cutoffs for any of these scholarship. 1530 SAT and 4.2W, 3.7 UW GPA.

It came in the mail a few weeks after he was accepted. He has slightly higher stats than your son but no SAT score. He received 6k/year Dean’s Scholarship and an email inviting him to apply for SSA (that came in a later email post-scholarship).

since this thread is so robust, wondering if folks had advice on FAFSA. I dont think we will qualify for financial aid, so is it worth doing an application?
we submitted it about a week ago…still “in process” …“share their FAFSA with their selected schools in late January”… seems we have a while before hearing how much the SAI will be. As much as I appreciated the easier form and last year’s tax forms auto submitted, I dislike the late decision…

Just came to know my son also got the Dean’s scholarship. We are waiting for the NMSF status. If we get selected as finalist, does he get $2000 on top of Dean’s scholarship or is $6K the cap?
less than :30… most q’s were profile style… opted in , give permission to link 2022 tax returns… then it took a bit of time to fill in the dozen or so schools we applied to… can look up by state / name, so no real need to look for school code separately.

I thought IU’s NMF is $1k a year. But I’m not 100% certain. Dean’s could run all the way up to maybe $11k but $8k seems to be the relative high I’ve read on here. Dean’s and its instate equivalent Provost are a starter award, you can stack others.

If you want the $5500 Federal loan, yes, do it. It’s a total of $27,500 over the 4 years (goes up every year). You don’t HAVE to take it, but better to have access and NOT need it than not have access and need it…

ok, i was a bit afraid of doing it so it wouldnt discourage the private schools we applied to from admitting my son. Seems like they want people pay full freight.
