Indiana University - Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

We are going this weekend as well. S24 is still getting lots of reminders to sign up (which he already did). I was expecting a follow up email of some sort (besides the initial confirmation). I guess we just head to Hodge Hall when we get there and someone will tell us where we need to be!

They will send something out, I believe the intent was to use an app. There’s a fine line between parents who want to plan and see things 2 weeks out but wait a minute - this is targeted at the teenagers who if you emailed them last week will not have read it or remembered it even if they did. I think Arts & Sciences was last weekend - Kelley will look similar to that if you look it up.

For the summer programs with 200 or so attendees they send information about 5 days out which is mostly targeted at the parents and teenagers. For 3k targeted almost entirely at the teens- probably Wednesday or Thursday.

Have to think like a teen with college communication, not the parent/bank who plans. They are targeting them not you.

We signed up, too. Booked hotel, rental car, flights. Not really expecting anything further from the school. What were you waiting for them to send?

Anyone know dates for summer new student orientation?

Um, a schedule of events
.where to check in, when/where different sessions are, etc. basically all of it!

You are likely going to be disappointed what you do receive based on this.

They won’t know orientation until FAFSA is worked out I don’t think.

Has anyone who was admitted to IU in the January batch of EA decisions heard about Hutton Honors College scholarships yet? I see a couple amounts listed for students admitted in Nov/Dec, but unless I missed it, nothing since.

My OOS daughter was notified of $8K/yr Dean’s Scholarship and a smaller amount from Hamilton Lugar School, but she’s heard nothing from Hutton yet other than notice of direct admission.

It’d be helpful to know if not having heard means Hutton is unlikely to give her anything, because we’re currently debating either flying in for the March HLS Direct Admit Day or waiting to decide whether to visit after her RD application decisions are released.

She did fill out GSA/SSA, but my understanding is that she won’t hear about those until later.

Answering my own question: my daughter emailed the Hutton scholarship coordinator and was able to confirm that she is not getting any Hutton automatic merit. Other Hutton aid will be communicated in March.

Checking if anyone deferred in EA has since received a decision. Thanks, and good luck to all!

Not yet. Sent mid year grades and essay. Any idea if we will hear before 3/15?

Not yet. My college advisor called admissions a while ago and they said they would be releasing some deferred decisions this week and the week of 3/11. But nothing yet
So not sure?

IU doesn’t really stack merit aid. If you got a higher Deans like this especially plus Luddy you are probably done. Anyone not speaking to you specifically. Always a chance.

Is it strange that my son was accepted early January and he has received no acceptance letter or swag or anything at all in the mail yet?

My son was also an early Jan admit and the packet just arrived a couple of days ago. You won’t be that impressed
a couple of stickers, a letter, and pamphlet. I’m sure it’ll be there soon.

nothing yet and i submitted everything like 3 days after they asked for extra essay and grades so hopefully soon

Did you submit grades voluntarily or did they ask for them? My son only submitted the essay. This is an ongoing source of confusion for me since my son keeps his IU communication, portal access to himself. lol Just hoping he doesn’t lose a chance because mid-year grades were not submitted.

they said it would make my application more competitive if i submitted my 7th semester grades but it’s not a requirement

Are you set with an affordable acceptance just in case ?

Back from Kelley DA Day! Loved the effort they put into making it informative and special. Was impressed with their focus on getting the students ready for the corporate world since freshman year - creating a resume, LinkedIn profile, networking skills, etc. And was astounded to hear that 60% of their current class is studying abroad. Loved the total experience. S18 loved it too! Still waiting to hear from a couple of other schools before he decides on Kelley.

Hope those headed to BTown in March have better weather! 15F and snow and ice was no fun so we readjusted our Saturday night plans and went for the NBA All Star pre-game in Indy.
