Indiana University Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

@jefrobertson can you help clarify the scholarships? If you don’t apply to Hutton, can you still get merit scholarships? Or do you qualify by applying to Hutton? S25 didn’t apply to Hutton yet and was wavering on if he wanted to do it. But I would encourage him more to apply if it means scholarship money. (We do not qualify for other financial aid other than loans.)

Has anyone that has gotten accepted also have their transcript status as “missing transcript” in their portal? My student’s counselor submitted the transcript 10/5/24 and reached out to IU. Admissions told counselor “if they submitted then they have it”. Very frustrating they still haven’t updated the portal. I’m trying to see if we have hope for a decision even though the portal is glitching. My child emailed admissions yesterday to inquire about status and so far no response.

@Medea1 one hypothetical yet valid scenario is if let’s say 10k students qualify for Auto DA, then Kelley may find themselves in a tough spot.
They obviously cannot back off from their Auto DA commitments, and will have to manage crowded classes; but for petition candidates it would be the end of road for being Freshmen DA to Kelley.

My S25 (OOS - OH) hasn’t received a decision yet. But we received a text message yesterday at 7:30pm (ET) that says “IU-Bloomington is inviting you to their group chat and community for interested students on ZeeMee …” What is it supposed to mean?

We got that too.

That sucks, hope it’s sorted quickly.
All I can say is that this only means a delayed admission decision for all practical purposes. Should not hamper the chances by any means. Please continue to be patient—I know easier said than done.

It’s end of first year not semester

My son (OOS, MA) keeps telling he’s a direct admit to Kelley. I keep reminding him he needs to get into IU first! He’s still waiting.

Curious as well.

If he meets the criteria for Kelley Direct Admit, then I’d say, you don’t have to worry about IU Admit. They have an acceptance rate of >80%.
Your kid is right, it’s just a matter of time–it sucks to wait endlessly though, isn’t it?

It does but personally I like they are releasing decisions when they are are made. Everyone should not have to wait. He was in the first OOS batch for Penn St/Smeal so I’m sure he will be among the last for IU!

Has anyone heard of kids receiving denial emails? Or does IU Bloomington first focus on sending acceptances?

For Kelley, you just don’t get in, you do not get a rejection. You are just pre- business.

I think he’s asking IU specifically.
@ProudDad3 I’m not sure on the timing of denials, but IU Bloomington isn’t known to be very selective, so hope for the best

I had the same question. There were definitely waitlisted last year and I imagine the same this year with football doing so well.

My student received that text last night and got her admissions email this morning at 9:30am est.
