Does anyone have any experience with IU, outside of Kelley? My S27 is very interested in IU and everything the school and Bloomington have to offer and will be applying undecided to most schools. I don’t think he has any shot for direct admit or transferring into Kelley so was just curious about other departments and majors. I do think Business could be an eventual major for him at another school so just don’t want to limit his options.
It’s a great school for journalism, social sciences, and Hamilton Lugar is outstanding for Intl Studies/IR. The college is also known for music and foreign language study.
I think it’s a vibrant public flagship with more geographic diversity than most.l (likely due to Kelley).
To show strength in the social sciences, it’s perennially tied with or just behind Syracuse as the tops (ahead of Harvard) for the Master of Public Admin - so you’d likely see strength in those type areas in undergrad.
It’s far from only Kelley. But given it’s an easier admit as an overall school and this board is often ranked focus, it does seem most ask about Kelley.
Is IU your instate flagship? IU is great but if he is interested in business I’d suggest looking at colleges where he could get into the b-school.
No - we are in Colorado but he would like to go somewhere different for college. He will apply to CU Boulder but Leeds isn’t a guarantee either!
If he’s interested in Greek Life at all, I’d pay close attention to what’s going on at IU fraternities recently. A rash of hazing incidents has led to a suspension of many Greek organizations and activities.
