Indonesian guy application to Harvard

<p>Hi guys, I am from Indonesia.
I live in Malang, a city in the Province of East Java .
what do u think of my chance to get into Harvard?</p>

<p>SAT scores (first take): CR 530
Math 550
W 460
SAT scores (second take) CR 550 (20 points gain)
Math 560 (10 points gain)
W 580 (120 points gain)
Subject Tests: U.S History 680
World History 670
Math level 1 570
Currently top 1 percent at school</p>

<p>I am going to a public school in which the instruction language is Indonesian, not English.
in 2005, I got a full scholarship from the US Department of State for an exchange program - I was placed in Maine from August '05 to July '06 and went to a public school there.
Actually, when I was in the US, I took US History class for the first time, and my grade was the highest of all.
I know that my scores are not stellar at all, but at least I have tried to study by myself. I recived no help from anybody when I was prepapring for the tests. Even my English teacher could not help me.</p>

<p>My non-academic achievements:
East Java Debating Championship in Univ. of Brawijaya (first winner)
East Java Debating Championship in Univ. of Muh. Malang (first winner, again)
Malang Debating Championship in Malangkucecwara College of Economics(first winner, again)
East Java Speech Competition in PolytechMalang ( first winner)
East Java Speech Competition Islamic Univ of Malang (first winner)
Malang Speech Competition, held by dept of Education (third winer)
East Java - Bali Speech Competition in PolytechMalang (second winner)
British Film Festival (analyzing movies and gender problems) (first winner)
Science is Fun Competition, held by Australian Embassy in Indonesia (finalist op 15 in my contry)
East Java News Reading Competition, held by Islamic Univ. of Malang (third winner)</p>

<p>And,
I was appointed by the Gov’t Agency of Nat’ Education to be " The Teen Ambassador for Healthy Lifestyle".
Currently a Class Chief (not captain) at my school.</p>

<p>my essays are pretty good</p>

<p>But I dont know about my teacher’s recs.</p>

<p>Well, I heard stories that some applicants whose test scores are just like mine were accepted at Harvard. Do u think that could be true?</p>

<p>hi, apa kabar? since i am not an international student, i am not too sure about the stats needed, although i do know that there is some lenience given in terms of CR and W scores for students whose native language is not english. Sadly, your math score is still kind of low. It seems like you are very accomplished nonetheless. Also, there area NOT many internationals from Indonesia which may be an advantage in terms of diversity. I know in my year, the class of 2010 (i am a current freshman), we have 0 from Indonesia directly, and I am the only indonesian american. good luck! if you wanna chat more about harvard or anything else, u can message me on MSN (if you use it) at <a href="mailto:stevezilla1088■■■■■■■■■■■■">stevezilla1088■■■■■■■■■■■■</a> oh and please let me know if you get in! semoga sukses! kalo ada pertanyaan lagi silakan bertanya, ya.</p>

<p>It’s generally a good idea to have all your SAT scores begin with a 7, maybe a few 6’s if yuo have something extra special going for you. Definitely get those scores up and you’ll have as good a chance as anybody.</p>
