Another silly newbie question…(TIA, Weenie!)

Denison is an 8+ hour drive away for us. We’re driving up on the 23rd, and move-in is the 24th. If it were totally up to US, we would mover her in, do the orientation things, take her out for one last non-dorm dinner and then hit the road in order to cut the drive time on the 25th. But they have this induction ceremony in the evening which isn’t scheduled to end until about 8pm…(we’re early-to-bed people anyway and know we’ll be exhausted that day). So our question is, how many parents do/don’t attend the induction ceremony? I don’t want DD to feel “left out” or like we’ve abandoned her, but an early start on the drive would be wonderful if its the kind of thing where it won’t really make a difference (if we attend the ceremony it will be for DD…I don’t feel a particular emotional need to be there). If we ask DD she’ll say she doesn’t care if we’re there, but I know she will if it turns out that everyone else has Moms weeping in the audience and hugging them good-bye and hers have dumped her and left!
