Industrial engineering combined degree?

I am currently a UF student majoring in industrial engineering. I am also very interested in finance. I was thinking about double majoring in finance but then I learned about the combined degree MSF program.

For my first job I want a position in management even if it is at the lowest level. I also heard about the combined degree in information systems & operations management. Would this combined degree be better in order to get a management position or would the MSF be better because it is a better fall back in the finance industry?

Lastly, would it even be beneficial to do the combined degree program at UF? UF is not a target school, so would it be better to just complete my b.s in IE and then try to apply to a better school to get my m.s?

I am interested in consulting and investment banking as well, but I would rather work my way to becoming the COO of a company one day. Management to me is more interesting and enticing of a career because of the power and the lucrative salary, but all in all I actually enjoy being in charge and making something more efficient and profitable.

All responses are appreciated.

Good questions… My grandfather actually had a degree in IE from UF, maybe FSU. He endedup as the CEO of a decent sized manufacturing company, making a very fortuitous salary. If you really want to get into consulting or IB, more schooling is probably a must have. Trying to go through the ranks in a company, I would not worry about additional education. It will cost a lot of money and time (time which could be used to make money). You do not educate yourself to become COO of a company. You work your *** off and prove yourself to become COO of a company.

I don’t think you’ll automatically be made a manager of anything good without some experience. Maybe if you work some internships and have another job while in school, but it seems unrealistic that you’d expect a company to hire someone to lead others just because they have a college degree. There are just too many things that you cannot learn in a classroom.
