Industrial Engineering Major?

I just applied with a Major in Industrial Engineering. Have a 3.4/4.0 GPA. 1220/1800, 1760/2400 SATS and have taken an extremely heavy course-load in high school, especially math (AP Calc, Honors Statistics). My GPA actually might have risen as I’ve done well so far in my senior year. My essay was very well written and I have a ton of activities in high school. I know I applied a little late, but what are my odds of getting in? Also does Pitt look at your best overall sitting with the SATS? or best combined score?

Pitt superscores both SAT and ACT and will even combine math from one with critical reading/english from the other to give you your best shot. That said, I don’t know enough about Pitt’s engineering school to say whether you’re competitive. Best of luck!

I’m a current freshman engineer at Pitt (on my mom’s account)…and I think you’ll be fine with those stats.

The only thing to consider that I can’t really comment on is the fact that Pitt (as you probably already know) does rolling admissions, so the kids who applied before you are taking up spots. This also applies to scholarship money; I know a number of students who didn’t get the scholarships they deserved score-wise simply because they applied too late.

So good luck! Pitt is AWESOME…just get ready to work your butt off. Let me know if you have any questions!
