Industrial Engineering vs. Civil Engineering

I’m going to be attending Phillips Exeter next fall for 11th grade and I’m chosing what courses to take in each term for 11 and 12.

I know industrial is more managing process more like buisness, and civil is more designing and construction. I would like to know more about each specially more about Industrial which for what I know is the one I like the most. I would also like to know if anyone could tell me more about the prerequisites i.e. I don’t think you need high school chemistry knoledge for Industrial because you don’t need to do an entry chemistry test (correct me if wrong); however, I do know phisics and math are very important. Thanks in advance, this will help me alot specially when choosing what courses to take at Exeter.

The admission requirements on the college websites will tell you what courses are needed, regardless of whether or not you actually use it in your major.

Generally industrial will still use chemistry. At most schools, a general chemistry class is required of all engineering majors. Taking AP Chem or a similar college class in high school will likely cover it, but it depends heavily on where you attend college.

For industrial you will probably end up with Calc I, II, III and Differential Eq. for the math classes. For science, Physics I, II and Chem I. You may also need to know a programming language. Obviously you really are not required to know any of this going into college, but, seeing as you are going to Exeter, it seems like you could actually take these in high school.

This is a very general guess, and every college is different. I agree with ken285, look at specific colleges and their requirements for a better estimate.
