Hi everyone, my very first post here.
I’m from Chile (LATAM), and I’m asking right here because there are no good College-Talking forums in spanish. Currently I’m studying Medicine in a well ranked University in my country (year 5th of 7th).
On July I decided to apply for a Summer Research Scholarship in an university in NZ, but now I received an email saying “We will not be taking your application forward as it doesn’t meet one or more of the eligibility criteria as outlined below: GPA/GPE didn’t meet the cut off of 6.0 or 5.5 (for Māori & Pacific applicants).”
The mails ends with “Please note that we will not enter into details of individual applications.” and is signed by a “Manager, Scholarships and Graduation”
NZ grade Scale goes from 1.0 to 9.0, but in my country, grading scale goes from 1.0 to 7.0, with minimum-passing of 4.0. my chilean-GPA is 5.4, but after transforming to NZ-grading went to 5.2
Yes, I know that sounds mathematically unexplainable, but official GPE Calculator page of the University says that.
My doubts about this are:
What should I do?,
A ) Keep quiet, try to get a better GPA and apply for the next year?
B ) Send a reconsideration letter
I must say that before apply I contacted some researchers which were offering vacants on their Research-Projects (in Scholarship context). Many of them said to me that I have a great CV. So, there's another option:
C ) Contact them (researchers) and tell that I won’t be on their projects because of my GPA, and give greetings for showing interest on me.
Thank you so much in advance!
