I was think of who to write my common app essay on and nothing is final, but I was brain storming and one of my practicer essays was on very successful drug trafficker :)) .I know that how he made his money was wrong, but would highlight how admirable his business method are and how he had a good product and knew how to market it, distribute and invest. Also his charity work never diminished. This is just abstract so It is just an idea. but this was the first answer that came to mind.
By “admirable business method”, if you mean extortion, bribery, money-laundering, intimidation, and tax-evasion, then you’ve got serious moral/ethical issues.
It’s a terrible idea. Completely calls into question your judgment. It’s akin to saying Heinrich Himmler was a great organizer and camp developer.
The idea is sickening in every way.
I don’t really know much about the topic, but it will surely bring attention and make you stand out, but as the kid who looks up to someone who did terrible things. Your morals and maturity will be questioned. When you apply they try to predict who you will be on campus, and this might lead them to think you’ll follow in the “marketing and distribution” of similar products. The application process is way to competitive to take a such a risk, you have great scores and ECs but don’t screw all that up just to try to stand out.
