HONORS COLLEGE CAMPUS VISITS (for those who will likely qualify for the HC)

Welcome: Do try to visit Bama....We think you'll be very impressed by all the new facilities and the beautiful campus.

If you do visit, first set up the campus tour online...try for an early morning time! Don't bother with the "info session", you'll get that info here pretty much on the Alabama forum on College Confidential which is VERY active. By skipping the Info Session, the people in the HC will have more time to schedule meetings with profs, etc.

Set up your tour here: Campus Tour - The University of Alabama

Don't delay setting up your campus tour! The tour is a mix of walking and riding in a small bus, so each tour is strictly limited to the number of seats on that small bus.

In the email to the below listed people, include:
[ul][]Student's name and contact info
[]Date and time of the Campus tour that you've reserved.
[]GPA and test scores (include likely NMSF if applicable)
[]Likely majors
[]Career interests (including med, law, etc)
[]Anything particular that you want to see. If you have an interest in seeing the new Science and Engineering Complex, the TV or radio stations, the B-school or what-have-you, let them know.[/ul]

Alabama Action and Outdoor Action for Honors College students....
Honors Action | Honors College

These are motels to AVOID. They don't fit the "just need a clean place to sleep" minimum standard.

There are a few yucky motels in Ttown and Rodeway is one of them. It doesnt seem to stop those places from charging high rates during peak times.

Avoid:

Quality Inn
Masters Inn
Rodeway Inn
Motel 6
Super 8
Baymont Inn & Suites

There may be a couple of others, but those I know for sure to avoid. The problem is that those places have become targets for rather vagrant people. People who don't have apts or homes, so they rent by the day/week at those places.

LaQuinta seems clean inside, but it's in a sketchy area that I wouldn't recommend.

Interim - Home

A Tradition of Innovative and Intensive Education
The Interim Program is an innovative and intensive educational experience with courses offered between terms (“Interim”); Winter Interim between the fall and spring semesters and Summer Interim between spring semester and the summer term.* Interim Program courses are often creative and experimental, ranging from international and domestic travel to explore many topics of interest, to intensive seminars in psychology, experiential courses in business and independent projects designed by individual students.* Winter Interim is designed for on-line and travel courses only and is conducted during the winter break. Summer Interim is held for a three week period in May and is the first part of the summer term. Each Interim term offers numerous courses including some regular semester courses and many courses designed especially for the Interim term. Virtually all of the University’s schools and colleges participate in the program, which is coordinated through the Office for Academic Affairs.

Registration for Winter Interim courses is a part of the registration procedure for spring semester.* Summer Interim course registration is a part of the registration procedure for the summer term and fall semester. Students may register for one course resulting in 3 or 4 credit hours depending on the course.* Questions about transfer credit for Interim courses should be directed to the Office of the University Registrar at (205)348-2020.* For an up-to-date listing of current Interim courses and prerequisites, students can visit the Interim website at interim.ua.edu. prior to the particular registration period.

For further information about any aspect of the Interim program, call or write:* The University of Alabama, Office for Academic Affairs, Box 870114, Tuscaloosa, AL 35487-0114; (205) 348-4890; fax (205) 348-9137.

For those desiring more space than a hotel room would provide for you or your family, there are Tuscaloosa condo rentals available. *These can allow parents to have privacy away from kids, more bathrooms, a kitchen and often laundry available for use.
