I am a student of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and I’m completing my A Levels this June (I’ve given AS already). Since English is my second language, I’ve seen that Carleton wants us international students to give the IELTS or TOEFL. I haven’t given any of those exams. There is a deadline on April 1st, and I wanted to apply before that; clearly there’s not enough time to give those exams. So I was wondering, since Carleton wants proof that I have skills in the English langugage for 3 years or more, would it be possible to apply with my O Level English Language result? I have achieved an ‘A’ in that subject. Not only that, I am studying in English medium school, so basically I’ve been studying English all my life. Therefore right now, I have with me my AS, SAT 2 and O Levels result. Can I apply to Carleton safely with them, or should I just wait for the next applying term?

The deadline for regular admissions students to complete testing was February 15th. If you apply next year, you’ll have until November 15th, 2010 (early decision round 1), December 31st, 2010 (early decision round 2), or February 15th, 2011 (regular decision) to complete testing. So there is plenty of time to take the IELTS or TOEFL.

If, however, those tests are not offered in your area, I would definitely call the admissions office and I’m sure they will help you figure something out. Either way, it’s definitely too late to apply this year, but you’ll have plenty of time to take any tests you need for next year’s admissions cycle. Good luck, and hope I helped!

On the bottom right of this page, there is a deadline regarding international applicants, that’s the one I’m talking about. If there are no chances, then I guess I’m going to wait until November 15th.

However, I would still like to know if I can apply with the exam results I already have (without the IELTS). Would it be possible?
