By informal research, I’m referring to random (independent) research you get to do with a prof.
Will that kind of research experience remain in your undergrad record or CV?
I don’t think it does, unless the research is an “official” one like REU.
But am I wrong?
Is it up to you whether to include independent research experience in your academic record?
If you can include it, then how will you label it on your record? Do you just put “Independent Research”?

My CV just has a section called “Research Experience”, where I listed both my participation in a formal program and my work in a professor’s lab.
