Information in Albert

Does anyone else show a change in the Financial Aid section that reflects your nickname as opposed to your first name? For example, if your name is William and you go by Bill does your Financial Aid section identify you as Bill? While I’m reading into things, under Events when you click on Event Status does it ask for a confirmation number for an event?

In my search for an answer to the question above, I ran across threads addressing changes in Albert under Financial Status. Apparently, at least some people believe that “Award access not available” means a rejection and “20XX Award access not available” means an acceptance. Has anyone found a case where an applicant was accepted and had “Award access not available” without the year preceding it?

I have the exact same as you – just “award access not available” and the confirmation number update…I wonder if anyone else got that change today.

Y’know, I told myself I wouldn’t join in the NYU Stress Fest on College Confidential, but here I am. & honestly, my housing/Albert pages change everyday, so I’m attempting to not read into anything. We’ll see I guess!

Same here, but I gave in to temptation. Where do you see housing pages? Why am I not seeing that anywhere?

The reading into Albert thing and financial aid etc is well a well-documented trip down the rabbit hole. There is no “there” there with respect to NYU and Albert - I promise. Some schools (like USC) do have tells that are real. NYU just does not. I’ve watched this roll out for the last 5 years (my kid is about to graduate from NYU). Every year there is frenzied wondering and guessing about Albert. In this case, it means NOTHING.

Wishing you the best. I know the waiting is hard. Are you prospective Tisch MTs?

@halflokum Well, thank you! I’m sure you’re right. There’s just that little “what if” gnawing away inside me as we get closer to April 1st.
Also, I’m not MT actually – Tisch Drama!

The MTs are all Tisch Drama too. Same degree granted to all. The wait is hard as more and more schools seem to be announcing early. Hang in. Home stretch.

Where is the housing information? I realize @halflokum is right, however at least it gives us something to pass the time! I know about the financial aid rumor, but what is the housing rumor and how do we check it?

I’m not sure @halflokum, and I don’t want to get anyone else drawn into this insanity (which it is) but I have heard the FA status be pretty reliable in years past for domestic applicants. If the FA changes to indicate the year, that is a yes. I know nothing about how this works for MT but traditionally it changes a week or so before results. I don’t see any housing or events option others are discussing.

It is awfully tempting but there are plenty of examples of the magic failing to indicate anything one way or the other. The only pp that post much once the decisions are out are the pp that get in. You will never hear much from pp who had what looked like the good case scenario and end up rejected. You may hear about pp who had no aid status change and got in but most pp that post about acceptances will not revisit the rumors because they move on.

There are no tells in Albert. There just are not.

I would be more likely to agree with halflocum if I could find an example of someone who was accepted and did not have a year preceding “award access not available.”

Ok I am stopping the insanity and agreeing with @halflokum …no Albert checks until 4/1!

Now the site is saying decisions 3/31

Pretty much it is safe to assume that what they are saying on the undergraduate admissions website is what is going to happen.Because NYU loves to make a deal about hitting the decision “button”.

But as far as MT programs go which is where this thread lies, I do wonder if coming in so late (relatively speaking) with decisions in the current climate means you lose pp that may have wanted you if only they knew. NYU will adjust or not.

We received an email today saying that decision will come Thursday via email. Best wishes to all who is waiting.

Can I just ask…how does anyone pay for NYU? If it’s true they give no money …it seems one would have to be really wealthy to pay for it…

I’m not sure it is true that they give no money. I will say their offers are very unpredictable. I know of student who receive nothing and others who have received very large awards with very little difference of need or talent. Time will tell.

Tisch gives need based aid and for some people it is quite a lot. What they don’t give is merit or talent without need.

Steinhardt in contrast has some pure talent awards.
