Information on college list

My current list is:

Vanderbilt
Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech
Rose-Hulman
RPI
WPI
U of Tenn.
U of Alabama

I am looking to study chemical engineering. I just want the strengths and weaknesses of these colleges to be identified. Which universities have the best quality of life, happiest students, best programs? Which have a great overall college feel, I.E. Good well rounded campus- School spirit, nice campus, nice facilities, etc. Is it worth it to pay the tuition to the privates over the cheaper state schools? (Tennessee is in state). Any information towards these schools and opinions towards them is welcome…

You do know that OOS publics cost nearly the same as privates, right? You can go to college p-r-o-w-l-e-r.com to see what other students have to say.

Though he didn’t end up going there, RPI really impressed us as a school on the move in terms of vision, resources, strengthening its (already strong) reputation, etc.

When I was referring to state school cost vs. private school, I was mostly referring to the fact that U of Tennessee will end up being very cheap. Is it worth it to go to the other schools?

I doubt GT or VT would be worth the additional cost. Vandy is probably a reach. You might get some merit $ from the other schools, depending on your stats.

3.8 unweighted Gpa. 4.20 weighted.
29 act, taking again in a month
All honors or AP Classes.
Varsity sports, several student government organizations, orchestra, eagle scout, and more.
