<p>and what makes more $$$ on average in the job market, info systems or ECE(or any engineering major for that matter)?</p>
<p>Avg salaries are about the same but perhaps ECE gets a slight nod. This is because IS majors go into consulting and such while some ECE majors go right into comp engineering which has 70-80k starting.</p>
<p>The avg salary for IS is around 60k and this is extremely good when compared to even MIT/Caltech etc. The companies include CMU’s original network of IBM, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, etc. as well as more business-type companies. </p>
<p>The IS major cranks out tech people as well as consultants (business people) which makes it a very marketable major.</p>
