Innate Value of College

I’m posting to ask what the innate value of a college is. By this, I mean what’s the base value of the college you’re coming from? To take a hypothetical, suppose you compared two applicants with the same GPA from the same high school, same SATs, same GPA, and same APs and AP scores, but one was transferring from a #40-60 national research university or a #20-30 LAC, while the other was transferring from a top 12 LAC. Would the colleges they’re coming from make a big difference? In general, how much does the caliber of the college you’re transferring from matter? Finally, are LAC’s seen as less serious or rigorous than Research Universities by admissions people? Thanks to whoever answers.

The caliber of the college you’re transferring from is considered in conjuncture with your gpa and rigor of coursework. There are too many factors involved in transfer admissions to quantify any single one. LACs can be just as rigorous as universities, it all depends on which LAC and which uni.
