Inquiry on where I stand

I’m a bit confused as to where I should apply to law school. My undergraduate record is a bit of a roller coaster ride due to some personal problems. It also took me six years because of three majors and a minor which my advisor encouraged me to go after. In any event, I have compiled a gpa of 3.64 with semesters that read as follows: 2.39, 3.37, 3.74, 3.67, 2.75, 1.75, 3.2, 3.12, 3.30 (1 summer class), 2.46, 4.0, 4.0 (3 summer courses), 4.0, 4.0. I recieved a score of 177 on my lsat in October. I have three failures with two in my second semester junior year and one in my fall super senior semester. I’ve retaken the classes and recieved A’s in the courses so my gpa is a bit inflated and I know that it won’t be seen as high by the admission boards. I also have 2 withdrawls one in fall freshman semester and one in my spring sophmore semester.

I’ve been the president of two organizations and worked at GT in manhattan for a few years now.

I just don’t know where I stand or where to apply because of how up and down my undergrad record is, though I’ve attempted to fix the inherent problems over the last couple years.

Any thoughts on where I should be applying?

first file with lsdas- then see what gpa they come up with. Then there are plenty of online tools that will let you insert gpa + lsat and give you a list of schools where and your acceptance based on 25/50/75 percentile.

My husband had a bad record starting in community college b/c he newly immigrated, he had a 3.8 in university majoring in poli scie. Well all of his remedial ESL courses counted for LSDAS and guess what, he got screwed with the marvelous gpa of 2.8. So really see exactly what and how LSDAS is going to make of your transcripts.

I understand this, however simply plugging in my GPA is appears a bit different at face than it would looking at my transcript. I’m just looking for a rough estimate.

With a thoughtful addendum the roller-coaster ride of a GPA shouldn’t be a problem. The end-result, the 3.6, is fine.

Coupled with the 177, you should get into Columbia.
