*insert clever eye catching phrase* chances?

well I’m a junior at a competitive private California school, and yeah im basically really confused about early decision and where to apply and what my priorities are. so it would be awesome if i could get some feedback as to where i stand.
so my conflict is basically that I don’t have the eyeball bulging excellent scores and GPA that obviously is the norm on these forums, but i still want go to a good school, ie in state UCB,UCLA, and USC. OOS: Johns Hopkins, Gtown, Brown, NYU, Cornell, UofC
however, i honestly dont think i stand a chance to get into schools like cal or la with my gpa and scores, so i want to apply ED somewhere like johns hopkins or EA at gtown. now another twist, i love policy debate, im def not like by far a silver bullet, ive done decent at natl competitions but nothing amazing. but i know i really reallly want to debate in college, my school isnt like a big name school that travels all over the country, so i want that experience in college. so there are teams with good debate programs that aren’t prestigous but still decent ie case western, gonzaga, whitman, u of virginia, etc. so another question i have besides chances is, whats better? 160K+ at a prestigous private school? or somewhere like zag or case western, OR UCB which is basically like my dream school. but will even get into cal…
sigh
so many questionssss

i dont think CAL or LA are huge reaches for you… if youre a junior and can retake SATs, get math/cr to a 1400+combined, i think you stand a solid chance at UCB and UCLA

brown is a huge reach though, and UVA is very prestigious

whats your UC gpa?

sweet, yeah its just that ive never heard of uva before,
anyways my UC gpa is approx 4.01, its calculated without +/-'s

I think the UCs are well within your reach.

blau_bik:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach
