What’s with people and ‘‘inside jokes’’ nowadays? It seems like everyone’s screen names are nothing but inside jokes… like… he’s a strawberry mouth lol ashley… or… he ran away with my shoes lol austin.

Are people so bored with their lives that they have to put everything that was remotely funny that happened in their day as their screen name. And when you ask them about it, they say, “Inside joke, can’t tell, sry” I mean… do they just have them to ensure people that they have friends or are popular enough to have inside jokes with other people.

This time last year I didn’t know the term ‘‘inside joke’’ existed.

People put inside jokes in their screennames? That’s not a popular thing here. Everyone puts their name in their screenname. I guess you can say the same thing about me.

I hate it when people are talking about something and they are laughing and you ask them what they are talking about and they say “Oh it’s an insider” Doesn’t happen much anymore though…

I mostly talk to my RL friends online, and it’s kind of nice to be able to laugh about little jokes that happened during the day. Inside jokes are just a way to connect with people in your little circle. It’s only an inside joke because people outside of your circle would have to know you for five+ years, or maybe just attended some silly sleepover. Inside jokes are simply memories that are funny.

People put jokes as their screenname because they’re smart enough to know you have to be totally nameless online, but they still want to be able to connect with their friends.

lol. I have plenty of inside jokes… trust me. but I don’t call them inside jokes… I just all them jokes. If people want to know - I tell them. I don’t say… sorry you can’t know it’s an inside joke lol

Sometimes, only the people in your circle of friends find inside jokes funny (because you’ve known them so long, or because the joke has a lot of background info behind it, or just because you hang out with people of similar personality/sense of humor) and when you explain it to others, they might not find it funny at all, or even understand it. But people shouldn’t rely exclusively on inside jokes either, because that’s just annoying too.

Yes, particularly among the former AnitaVM/celebrian25/Jusgimmethegun/Lily415 group-I remember that some were quite angry with their random inside joke threads.

some people i talk to cc are really cool and fun to talk to…so what if i have a good and friendly relationship with them…so what i joke around with them…does make me a loser in life?
