It seems as though Dartmouth is not a popular choice at my inside the beltway private school in Washington, DC. I don’t know why, perhaps it is percieved as too conservative compared to Brown and Harvard, which are very popular. I have no problem with this and I’m wondering whether my impression is correct that Dartmouth doesn’t get a lot of applicants from the upper crust D.C. private schools, compared to Brown for example. Since I am interested in applying early decision, do you think this might give me an edge? I really would love to go there.

i think you’re correct (i live in bethesda), but overall…i dont think the impact will be so great. of course, no one will ever know for sure! ;)

I normally don’t do chances, but I too don not think the impact will be great especially considering that many of the students come from NY (with the bulk of those from NYC) CA, and MA. For the class of 08 there are 4 students from DC: 2 -St. ALbans, 2- Benjamin Bannecker. 2 are from bethesda : 1- sidwell, 1- sacred heart
