Insignicant stuff in "summer essay"?

In addition to more significant things I did, I was thinking about mentioning some more “insignificant” stuff like…watching an anime series for the first time and starting my love for anime, starting my new routine of taking walks almost every morning and afternoon, et cetera. Should I not mention these things? Does it seem stupid?

P.S. Sorry for the typo in the title…Gah, wish I could edit it.

I suppose it really depends. If you have done a lot of really impressive constructive stuff with your summers, then adding a little bit extra material that’s less relevant can’t really hurt. However, if watching anime and taking walks were ALL you did, it might not come across well. It’s all about balance.

Yeah, that’s what I figured. I guess if I have room after talking about the more significant stuff I did, I might add some of the less relevant stuff just for fun. And actually, watching anime and taking walks have been important to ME for various reasons that I could address, so while they might not be grand or seemingly significant, maybe my reasons for mentioning them could show something about me.

I definitely agree, and I didn’t mean to put those things down. In fact, if you can go in depth on your application about them, then you will stand out as most kids are writing about debate camp or building a school in Ghana.
