I have finally joined the Instant Pot revolution (meaning I just got one, took it out of the box and am feeling totally overwhelmed!) I have read through the earlier thread on the Instant Pot but I didn’t see any mention of disposable liners to protect the pot and make clean up easier. Has anyone used these successful? If so, I would appreciate it if you could share the brand you have used. I have a 6 quart Instant Pot. I would also appreciate any recommendations for must have accessories.
Liners would interfere with the seal that allows it to come to pressure. You can bring it to pressure with a combo of water and vinegar if there’s food scorched to the bottom and soaking isn’t sufficient to remove it. Or just use some steel wool. The pot is a big piece of stainless steel and doesn’t need protection.
Welcome to the instapot! You do not use a liner. You cook under high pressure and the bottom gets very hot. It really isn’t hard to clean. I have not even had trouble getting cooked on stuff off, but there is usually not that much cooked on if you deglaze the pan after browning. I had some pasta stick once but it came off without any trouble. I altered my method a little after that and did not have the problem again. Must have accessories, a good steamer basket or lifter to hold up cut up veggies and eggs. https://smile.amazon.com/Original-Salbree-Accessories-Stainless-Strainer/dp/B074CPVFN8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1527516991&sr=8-5&keywords=instapot+accessories+6+quart Or https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HCBDF2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and if you want to do any baking a good pan https://smile.amazon.com/Fat-Daddios-Anodized-Cheesecake-Removable/dp/B0012Q32JM/ref=sr_1_29?ie=UTF8&qid=1527516784&sr=8-29&keywords=instapot+accessories+6+quart or springform pan. Beyond that an extra ring if you want to separate savory and sweet but I have not had any trouble with odor getting into sweets form the ring so I haven’t used mine. I also have a stackable egg holder that I use to hold stackable items like small desert bowls. https://smile.amazon.com/Aiduy-Vegetable-Stackable-Accessories-Stainless/dp/B076Y5FX41/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1527517261&sr=8-14&keywords=instapot+accessories+6+quart
I use Barkeeper’s Friend to clean the stainless steel insert. It works perfectly.
The instant pot is a pot. It works like the pots you put on your stove. You clean it like you clean the pots you put on your stove.
Thank you all for the helpful suggestions. It makes sense that a liner wouldn’t work. @Singersmom07 the links you provider were especially helpful and I will look forward to my Amazon delivery!
I have a lovely little flan pan that I use to make flan in the instant pot, and I bought the glass lid for the instant pot, so I can easily store it in the fridge.
One of my favorite accessories is an extra liner for my 6-qt duo.
My second favorite accessory is the 3-qt mini.
I also have a stainless steel bowl that fits inside my 6-qt liner. (Bowl from goodwill.) I can put a cup of water in the pot, put the rack in, set the stainless steel bowl inside with a dry measuring cup of rice and a liquid measuring cup of water and seal things up. 6 minutes manual pressure then let it sit for 10 minutes after finishing up. Perfect and easy rice.
