Instead of a "tiny house" look at how a tiny apt was transformed.

This also reminds me of the new micro-apartments gaining traction and interest in high clost of living areas where space is at a premium and rents are sky high. Our city is beginning to explore it as an option for housing, since we have too many people and only a limited amount of land. Of course the developers keep building more luxury units, not affordable housing. :frowning:

It helps to be small for this apartment. I would add a chair/couch some where in this- but not sure where? maybe a hanging swing? or hammock?

Maybe a “murphy-style” loveseat that is attached to a wall and pulls down? If it were maybe 10x10, there would be more options. They have certainly used their 8x8 foot space efficiently and creatively.

That is a great idea. On the opposite wall, there should be a pull down “couch”. And the seats under the table could have pull up “backs”.

The bed should have a real mattress, don’t know why it doesn’t. If size is the issue, then cut down a memory foam mattress. But the size of the bed space should be big enough to accomodate a twin mattress.

The first time I watched the video I didn’t watch to the very end. The second time I did and saw the space before the reno - pretty amazing.

After noticing a thread that is real close to this one, it occurs to me that all of the people who love these tiny houses and tiny apartments may need to quit shopping at Costco if they ever really make the switch.

Having the entire bathroom get wet when I shower would be a deal-breaker for me.

One of the attractions of many tiny homes is that they look at least a little comfy. This one doesn’t. Though it does look COOL. I agree with NYMomof2 that this seems more of an experimental space than actually a place to LIVE.

I recently stayed in a hotel room in Munich that had a similar bathroom- I thought it was a mistake not realizing that it is a style. I was convinced I was going to fall before I got out of there after the shower…

If you want to live in a tiny area, look at how they do it on boats. Those cool pull-outs look great but waste lots of room. Cubby cabinets wold hold more stuff. The pull out stairs waste 50% of their space! A ladder wold be better.
And no comfy chair/loveseat? No way.

Many European bathrooms are set up that way (fortunately not ours  )

I could live with a wet-room bathroom for my shower but where do they put the TP?

I thought of that, but strangely TP did not get wet. But shampoo and conditioner made the floor very slippery. I put my towel on the floor after every shower which needed replaced each day…

I noticed the wasted space. I think that could be amended with some kind of pull out in the wasted space.

I agree. I think some kind of comfy pull down sofa on the opposite wall is needed.

I am sorry, I can’t live with only a stool in my house and I really can’t see myself sitting on a wet toilet after a shower(. Japanese capsule hotel is better than this.

@artloversplus I agree that better seating options is a MUST, but there is a shower curtain in that bathroom, so the toilet would not get wet.

^^ You just have to make sure its not leaking!

In Amtrak, they had a shower you had to sit on the toilet seat (with the cover down–it had holes drilled into it) to take a shower. We opted to wait until we got to our hotel room. That’s one of the most compact showers I had ever seen but none of us felt that adventurous. Maybe on a many day sweaty trip, but otherwise, I think folks prefer a bit more space.

Only if I was a poor 20 something and desperate to live in Paris, London or NYC, etc., or previously homeless, would I ever consider this. Never being able to sit on a comfortable chair or couch seems like torture.
