<p>Simply check with your office of insurance for your state about if the company you are interested in is licensed to do business. While there you can check out complaints and fines against the company. </p>
<p>Basically every state has it’s own rules and regs for insurance, start with looking at information your state has. </p>
<p>If the company you choose is not licensed in your state and something goes south… you may be out of luck… check it out before any purchase.</p>

<p>While faster on the internet, insurance can also be phoney as well. The internet is a decent starting point if you don’t know anybody, but to not check with your Office of the Insurance Commissioner for your state or the state you are in while in school could leave you high and dry and out premium and with large medical bills. You can check a company out on the internet or even by calling the OIC. </p>
<p>Better safe than sorry. If you made a mistake in your choice AND had a large claim… be aware.</p>
