This is a relatively new major for Purdue and I haven’t seen statistics. The data digest for specific majors requires a login which I don’t have.

IBE is a really good major, in my opinion. S23 did get IBE admittance last year with the following stats 3.56UW / 3.61W / 1420 SAT. He ultimately didn’t end up going to Purdue, but this was his #2 pick from his college admittance list. IBE is a reimagination of the Industrial Management major which has been around since the 1960s at Purdue.

As per the Purdue website, the 2023 SAT range for the Daniels School of Business is 1230 - 1430. I would think IBE average SAT is towards the higher end of this range. The acceptance rate for Daniels School of Business as a whole was 61.3% for 2023. IBE may be lower than that.

Stumbled across youtube videos from Purdue students that make the school look like all work, and then more work, but those are engineering students. Any idea what IBE is like? I’m super excited about the major, a good fit for my student’s interests, but he is definitely a business type, not an engineer. Any feedback on that?

My D had plenty of fun and downtime at Purdue, even as a chemical engineering student.

Yea does anyone have any idea ?

If I may ask, where do he end up ?

My friend’s son is FYE - smart kid 1530 and high high school GPA, varsity Lacrosse player from NJ- he LOVES Purdue. He has been able to play club Lacrosse there.

Does that help? Are you trying to decide between offers?

He ended going to FSU. The weather was a big factor in his decision. We are from the Northeast and he really wanted a warmer locale. I personally don’t think you can go wrong with IBE. It’s more technical/quantitative than a pure business degree. And Purdue is spending a lot to move its business school up the rankings.
