has anyone done the intel science competition? is all of the work worth it? i know that being a finalist or semifinalist can be a major hook…

54 looks without a response?! come on guys

unless ur a finalist, its not THAT special…
pretty much everyone on CC that’s into science is a semifinalist.

um yea…its harder to be an intel semifinalist than getting into princeton ED.

so yes, it is an accomplishment at the semifinalist level, maybe not so much for a school like princeton, but for the vast majority of schools, it is.

Princeton definitely likes to see the semifinalists (btw if you apply ED you won’t even have your results by then) because it indicates that they are experienced at and capable of doing sustained independent research and writing it well. This is significant because students at Princeton generally write two junior papers and a senior thesis.

Having said that, if you are going to do well at Intel, you need to be really excited about your work. It is a lot of work.

Finalist is a hugeass hook. Stanford apparently accepts all finalists, and top schools look very favorably on Intel Finalists in general.
