Hey, so I’m intending on applying to UCSD, UCLA, UCD, UCB, and Stanford (as well as some safeties) with stats that can be found in my post history. The main thing is that my current overall SAT score, while high (2260), includes a relatively mediocre (680) math score. Should I retake the test again? Or is that score okay? Because my intended major is mathematics. I don’t know if colleges compare the intended major with test results or whatever when deciding whether or not to accept you. Would a good SAT math subject test score (730+) make up for the mediocre SAT I score? Or should I just retake it no matter? or just put undeclared for now and apply for the mathematics major after I’m already accepted? Thanks for any and all feedback!

680 is a bit low, but I think if you don’t want to take the test again, you can just study a lot for a SAT2 and if you get 800 on math 2 and take the most rigorous math courses offered then it would make up for it.

It’s very easy to raise a 680 though.

One thing to consider: Taking Math 1 as a subject test AND taking Math 2. That way, you could show colleges higher proficiency in math while also getting to show them proficiency in another area.
