I applied under Environmental Studies because I knew it was impossible for me to become accepted for business with my current stats. I received admission to UW Seattle campus under the major “Environmental Studies” as part of the Program of the Environment. My question is, where exactly is that located on the campus in terms of housing and student buildings? Am I separated from the majority of students at UW because I chose such a niche major, or will I be with everybody else, under different teaching? I planned on minoring in environmental policy regardless, but I would like to know where I would be if I chose UW. Under college, it says the “interdisc undergrad prog.”

I would imagine that different classes are held in different buildings. So, a math/stats class would be in the math building, biology in biology, etc. Look in the catalogue (online at My UW) and figure out which classes are part of the major and which buildings they are in. Environmental Studies will not have its own building where you take all your classes.

By the way, there are no math classes — furthermore, no classes, period — in the math building :)

Alright, but would my classes be located all around the campus? Is that why it’s referred to as interdisciplinary? Thanks

Sorry for being facetious, heh. For pretty much every major, classes are all around campus. For some majors — say, physics, computer science, or electrical engineering — most in-major classes are in that major’s building, but most majors aren’t like this. Nearly every quarter (I’m in math and applied math), I’ve had nearly every class in a different building.

“Interdisciplinary” just means that you get to design your major, and decide which courses you take.

S has classes all over campus, even different sections of the same class may be held in different buildings, so at registration time he makes sure the buildings are reasonably close if he has only 10 min to walk from class to class. His Russian class is meeting at the ChemLab building this quarter. :)
