If I do interdisciplinary studies and chose all my classes for graphic design and new media, could I find jobs in graphic or web design?

Absolutely. Graphic design is all about the strength of your portfolio and the skills you offer the design team. Although if you get an interview, they might question why on Earth you didn’t just do a graphic design major in the first place. Are you trying to avoid certain classes?

A pre-existing graphic design/ new media major will have a well thought out range of skills and progression. You might find yourself taking classes you wouldn’t have ordinarily chosen for yourself but that give you important skills, insight or even a brand new area of interest.

Remember too that many graphic designers choose to become self-employed. You would want to have additional business classes if available as it’s a lot more complicated than just setting up a website and have the jobs and money roll into your bank account.
