Interest in Acting BFA with little experience

Hello,
To start off I will give a little background into my situation. When I graduated high school in 2012, I was accepted to San Jose State as a studio practice major with an emphasis in photography. I did not really enjoy the school that much. I am from Los Angeles, and live very close to CSUN, and San Jose felt a lot like CSUN, a commuter school. Near the end of my freshman year I was notified of a few family illnesses at home and I did not want to be away while all of that was going on. I finished my freshman year and came home.

After I came home, i worked for a semester, and then began to take the rest of my general ed classes at a communicy college. I was focused on finishing my GEs, and while I was there I might as well explore a little bit. It gave me a lot of time to think about what I had already completed and how far I had to go, and I felt I was not as interested in art and photography as I once thought I was. I took a beginning acting class and loved it. I got great feedback from my teacher who also teaches drama at USC. Now that I am almost done with my GEs I am looking at schools to transfer to. I really want to pursue acting. I have for a long time but was always afraid, but the beginning acting class really got rid of my fear. My problem is that that is the only experience I have had. I am ready to throw myself into a program and give it 150% but when I look for programs, I run into the BAs vs the BFAs. I would love to go to a BFA but my lack of experience seems like it is in the way of getting accepted to any. They require headshots, portfolios (which I have trouble really understanding what kind of material goes into. I have artwork from my previous college experience, as well as extracurricular work) and resumes, which I have really nothing to put on in terms of acting. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into applying to BFAs with as little experience as I have. The film industry is where I want to go, as well as theatre. I know I am young (20 years old) but when I research these acting programs, I feel like I am too old. Everyone started in high school or earlier and I am quite the late bloomer when it comes to pursuing an acting education.
