<p>Swimming

  • have been swimming competitively for club since 10 (7+ years)
  • club record for an event
  • qualified for the State meet in one event
  • only swam for high school team for freshman year because of transportation difficulties and family reasons; will likely to swim for school next year too; made the varsity team freshman year; will be on varsity again if I swim next year</p>

<p>Violin

  • Playing since 4th grade with school orchestra programs and private teacher
  • Concertmaster of our High School Orchestra for my sophomore and junior years
  • Cannot do orchestra next year because of a scheduling conflict
  • Took AP music theory to supplement violin playing</p>

<p>Student Council

  • Will be a member for all 4 high school years
  • Sophomore Class president- elected by entire class
  • Junior Class president- elected by entire class
  • Will be the overall student council president next year’s nominated and elected by council
  • Prom Committee President- planned this years prom (very time consuming, would not recommend); prom had a larger attendance than before and netted 7000 dollars
  • The Student Council of our school hosts and plans all the major school events such as homecoming, prom, and more; it contributes largely to local and national charities and social organizations; leaders in student council must arrange all events, activities, and cooperation from other entities</p>

<p>Chess

  • have not been a very active chess player lately
  • in middle school, played in many tournaments and earned 1 st place in a couple
  • played in many state team tournaments usually on second or third board; most recently, I played in the state team tournament with three other people as third board; we got 3 red place overall and I personally went undefeated</p>

<p>Volunteering

  • I volunteer irregularly at various location, often because of national honor society or student council
  • I have over 50 hours of independent community service and plan on increasing this this summer</p>

<p>Other Factors

  • I’m a Chinese male; I’m a full native-born citizen of America and have lived here for almost all my
  • I’m completely fluent in Chinese but cannot read or write
  • I’m currently learning Spanish and will be taking AP next year
  • I played at Carnegie Hall last year with my orchestra and played at the Ryman this year
  • I’m a National Merit Finalist
  • I’m one of the contributing scores of our school’s Math League competition
  • I served as my high school’s only student representative on our school corporation’s Calendar Committee which planned the calendar schedule for all pour schools for the next three years
  • I am regularly nominated as a class or school representative in other initiatives
  • I will probably maintain my rank and be Valedictorian next year; this years valedictorian was accepted to Harvard</p>

<p>I’m mainly concerned with my SAT scores and lack of merit and recognition on a national level</p>

<p>With all that written, would are my chances of getting into the top colleges? And should I retake the SATs or take the ACT?</p>
