Hello- I am looking for a summer writing program for my rising 7th grader. We live in CT, so would love a day program nearby but am open to sleepover/ including traveling to a program. Other than Interlochen, what programs do you recommend? Interlochen looks amazing-- but it is pricey. Thank you!
I can’t recommend a camp, but here is what my young adult writer daughter did at that age - she volunteered over 4 different summers for young children’s writing camps (7th-10th) through our parks department, a local school and a few private programs including one sponsored at the Children’s hospital partnering on creative writing and journaling with children dealing with long term health issues.
I am sure other CC’ers will have camp recommendations and just wanted to throw out other ways to keep writing
She did attend a couple summer camp/classes at our local university that were for high school students and looked into Kenyon and Ohio when a HS jr, but Covid cancelled.
It’s worth applying to Interlochen. My daughter unexpectedly received a 25% merit scholarship- I didn’t even know that was possible.
