Interesting Food Gifts

My husband and I exchange gifts with the couple who were in our wedding (they were the only attendants–small wedding). We’re all foodies, and for the last five years, we’ve been sending each other food gifts–bacon of the month club, meat from Lobel’s in NYC, olive oils, vinegars, etc.

This year, I’m out of ideas. I live in MA, so I’ve done chocolate-covered cranberries and other sweets from Nantucket, seafood (lobster) from Maine, etc. Would love suggestions for people’s favorite holiday food gifts. Our friends live in St. Louis.

Real maple syrup. Some people have never even tasted the real thing.

My Brother always sends us a tin of Pecans from Texas. They are wonderful! Just a thought.

I have sent Penzey’s spices to friends and family and they were always a hit (Indian collection, Mexican Collection, American Collection). Fox Point is always a popular choice. They have excellent cinnammons and vanillas too, for the baking crowd.

Their online store is excellent and ships fast.

As long as diet / religion permits it, Surry Farm peanut-fed ham (domestic equivalent of acorn-fed Spanish ham). Here’s a link to a story about it:
<a href=“Virginia Law Weekly”>Virginia Law Weekly;

I first tasted it with grilled artisan bread, fresh ricotta and honey, along with paper-thin slices of ham. Best ham and cheese ever!

Also, my family trades wheels of baby Swiss cheese with each other. It’s always from Wisconsin, usually from Monroe. WI.

Otherwise, we make our own food – up to 8 kinds of cookies and truffles.

We send these nuts every year. Everyone loves them.

Zingermans.com
They have a very nice selection!!

After watching Top Chef last night I want some Salmon Candy!

I know it’s not food, but would wine of th month work?

I love Stonewall products. They even have a cooking school that would be a fun gift if your friends ever come to the north east to visit!

Nothing says Christmas like Tamales!!! I’m sending out of state folks the holiday gift pack. They are delicious!

Penzey’s has a store in Arlington if you are in the Boston area and want to check them out. I order all my spices from Penzey’s; grocery store spices do not compare.

My favorite is [Tait Farm Foods](http://www.taitfarmfoods.com/)
Similar to Zingerman’s, but on a smaller scale and “closer to the earth”, if you know what I mean. American Spoon Foods is another similar company.

My MIL recently gave us some Kringle Danish from oh Danish bakery.com. It was delicious. Am planning to send it to several people this year.

I love Burdick chocolates, especially those cute little mice.

Being from New England, how about a nice assortment of Vermont artisanal cheeses? I’d be very happy with that arriving at my door.

I have to give Burdick’s a boo. The store is great, but they never responded to my email queries. :frowning: (I wanted to send something to my local student, twice.)

missypie, are those really, really good tamales? I do love tamales!

I was going to also suggest something from Zingermans. William Sonoma has some type of bakery goods you can have sent that my niece who is a foodie has raved about - croissants, cinnamon rolls, etc.

Were they (or you ) fans of the tv show MASH??? Klinger always bragged of these hometown favorites - people go crazy buying their gift boxes locally and for out of town gifts - delicious!!

I have ordered some Choffy for my dad, who is very much a foodie: [Drink Choffy – Healthy and Delicious Brewed Chocolate](http://www.drinkchoffy.com/)
I’ve heard great things about it on the internet, and it’s an interested company (based near Portland, OR).

My dad will either love it or hate it, but at least I’m interested in trying it if he’s not ;)

Chofu looks really interesting - never heard of it. Might be a great idea for someone I know though its a bit pricey…anyone try this before???
