Interesting Info from TERP

Bullet is an alumni so we get TERP and there were 2 interesting articles in it.

The admissions office goal by class of 2018 intends to quadruple their international enrollment from 600 undergrad to 2400 undergrad, while maintaining their 75% IS. That means with each yr OOS will become more competitive. The main thrust for the goal is to raise their international exposure.

This should not be seen as a shocker since 2 yrs ago they announced that they wanted to increase their national exposure, thus why it is becoming more difficult to get in from NJ/NY.

Behavioral Social Sciences got a new dean, with an impressive resume. Former UPenn Scholar and a Brookings Institute fellow will be the dean of Public Policy. I wonder how the govt and politics program will change.

Public Policy Prof Ivo H. Daalder was named the U.S. Ambassador to NATO. Pretty impressive!

Donald Kettl, was appointed dean of the School of Public Policy. John Townshend was Named Dean of the College of Behavioral & Social Sciences. Townshend was formerly head of the geography dept at UMCP.

Well let’s hope that Townshend heard the cry out of of BS last yr when they did their sit in! I laughed a few weeks later we, as parents received a letter asking to donate money to the behavioral school. Bullet and I looked at each other with a quizzical face, and said at the exact same time, I thought that was what we paid our tuition for?

Do you think the NY/NJ area stretches to us in Connecticut?
My S is applying early for engineering.

Connecticut is far less represented on campus for OOS than NY/NJ, so the geography shouldn’t be an issue; just what pima points out as harder OOS admissions in general. Best of luck to your son!
