Interesting .. Now what should I do?

Ok, so I just took the Princeton Review SAT practice test for fun and I ended up getting 800 on the writing section (untimed, however). The thing is, I’m only in 8th grade. I showed this to my parents and they plan on signing me up for the real SAT. I’m fairly confident I could score almost this high even when I’m being timed.

I have absolutely no idea what programs are out there for me. I’ve always considered reading and writing my strongest subjects, but I had no idea I could score an 800 :). So … does anyone know of any gifted or selective summer programs or something along those lines for someone with my qualifications to participate in? I’m interested in the types of programs that would look good on my future college applications.

Thanks! :)

have you taken the john hopkins? look into cty

To find information on the CTY program, http://www.cty.jhu.edu

If you’re interested, call them TODAY. Eighth graders need special permission to take the SATs and the late deadline for signing up for the June 2 SAT is tomorrow, May 9. That’s your last chance to take the SATs and have them drop off your record when you go to high school. If you take them in the fall, as a ninth grader, then they will remain on your record for your college applications.

How do you know you got an 800? Who graded your essay? O_o

Also, notice that there are two other sections on the SAT. And, Princeton Review is not one of the more reputable SAT practice test providers. Get tests from College Board itself and try them.

getting an 800 on any portion of the SAT doesn’t make you a genius, and saying something like “someone with my qualifications” just because you scored well on a test is a bit naive.
I test well too, but I’d like to think that isn’t a measure of anything other than my test-taking abilities and maybe my grammar intuition or somthing like that…

I’d say don’t worry about the SAT yet. take it sophomore year so you don’t have to worry about all the junior year ****, but if you’re gonna score well anyway what’s the point in taking it early.
Find a summer program that interests you, “gifted” or not.
