Interesting Situation- Chances at Stanford, Berkeley, UChicago, Harvard?

Hi,

I have almost all As…unfortunately, my two B’s are in Chemistry Honors and AP Calculus BC, one semester each. Also, for some really odd reason, I got a 4 on the Calc BC AP Test (which I still find weird). I’ve also taken all previous math classes and Physics Honors. I have an 800 in Math SATII, and will have the same in Physics and Lit SATIIs. In addition to that, my SAT score is a 2370, with a 770 in CR.

I’m really into music; I play clarinet, alto sax, piano, and I also produce music. I have a music club at school that I think has significantly changed the culture of our school. In addition to that, I’m researching over the summer. I definitely have a lot of material for some really strong essays, and as I’ve won some contests in the past, I should be able to really put my personality out there and seem like an interesting candidate.

My question is: despite the setbacks, how are my chances: a) Assuming that I do NOT place at all in Intel/Siemens Science competition; b) DO place, maybe at least semi-finalist?

Also, how much will I get judged for my B and 4 in Calc?

Hard questions to answer without your GPA/class rank. Include more EC’s too- your music by itself will be hard to attract an admission officer’s glance.

Take what I say with a grain of salt though, I am only 16 and a rising senior.

By the way, could you chance me back? I would really appreciate it! ^_^

Unfortunately my school doesn’t do Class Rank, but unweighted, my GPA is looking at like a 3.94, and weighted it’s a 4.something. Unfortunately my only ECs are science and research  Do you think research can carry me?

And yes I’ll definitely chance you back!

Well, with the Intel/Siemens thing, I’m not sure if they will announce the winners in time to put in your application :/. Your SAT scores are definitely great and will turn heads, however.

Class rank would have been a nice way to separate you from the pack, but a 3.94 seems solid as well. As mentioned before, your main Achilles heel are your EC’s- maybe include awards if you’ve won any?

I will say these schools are reaches, but I think you have a very real chance of getting in.

Good luck!
