Interesting twist on what's considered a good SAT score

Is it possible that a pretty good score for one student is pretty bad for another?

Let’s say you have two students applying for a large competitive college. One is a strong math student and it is clear that he will major in math or science, maybe engineering. And he gets a 700 on SAT Math II. I’m thinking that may not look so good, may hurt his case.

And you have another high school student who is an artist. Goes to an arts school - specializes in anything from drama to painting. And he is applying to the same college with the intention of majoring in the humanities. And he gets a 700 on SAT Math II. I’m thinking that looks pretty good for an artist. Shows he is well rounded, has breadth of intelligence, etc. Probably helps his chances a bit.

What do you think?

Everyone has a different perspective on what a good SAT score is. At my school anything about a 1700 is considered godly. The kids on here would die if their score was below a 2000.

I agree with the fact that a 700 for a person intending to go into mathematics does not look good. But I am not sure if the 700 helps the artist very much.
