<p>So the UC presents application data online (<a href=“http://www.ucop.edu/news/studstaff.html[/url]”>http://www.ucop.edu/news/studstaff.html</a>) which is interesting as it allows you to compare student stats for various campuses. For instance, you can see the mean SAT scores or GPA for students that received an offer of admission at different campuses and compare them.</p>
<p>What gets interesting is that in the statement of intent to register data, academic statistics are omitted. They provide academic data for students they chose as qualified to attend a given campus, but omit academic data for students who actually chose to attend.</p>
<p>If one were to really do some form of meaningful comparison of academic data, it certainly seems to me that you’d need to look at the numbers for those who actually attend, not those who were merely offered admission. (Especially when folks use the “safety” strategy.)</p>
