Which do you think would be a more successful career?

i’ve always thought interior design was interesting…but on the other hand, i know a person with a fashion and merchandising major and was a kitchen and bath designer…the fashion major isn’t EXACTLY fitting for interior design career, but she did it…sooooo if you’re really interested in psych, do it, bc you might be able to get a career in interior design without the major.

if that doesn’t work out, try a double major or a major and a minor…

College majors do not neatly transfer into careers, and a lot of success in interior design depends on how good you are at it.

I was a psychology major in undergrad, and I’m in a Ph.D program now. I am an excellent writer and researcher, but my idea of art is drawing stick figures and I don’t even like designing my own space, much less someone else’s. So I would’ve been a terrible interior designer.

However, interior design doesn’t seem like one of those jobs that you have to have a major in, whereas if you decide you want to be a psychologist later on, a major in psychology will be essential. So I’d major in psychology and minor in art or interior design were I you.
