Interior Door Knobs

We are replacing our hollow-core doors with hardwood and want to buy nice hardware. We are looking mostly at Baldwin or Emtek, but are open to other ideas. Any suggestions or thoughts about Baldwin vs. Emtek?

We’ve used Baldwin frequently for both fixed and operable doorknobs and love them.

Consider lever style knobs instead of those round ones. More elegant and can be opened by someone with both hands full. Also arthritis-friendly. We have Emtek. They are fine.

We did that when we moved to our current house a zillion years ago. It makes SUCH a difference to have solid doors!!

Congrats!

The lever style knobs are convenient for people, but they do also make it a lot easier for cats (and dogs) to open doors. That’s why we don’t have them :upside_down_face:

Baldwin and Emtek are both high quality. For a heftier, more substantial lockset, look at Rocky Mountain’s Builder Series. They are scaled slightly smaller than the company’s signature line and really dress up a door. Their exterior mortise sets are beautiful.

It’s amazing what new door knobs can do for a house. We had to replace a broken door knob, and it looked so good we replaced all the first floor knobs in the house.

Looking into spiffing up the hinges by replacing them as well.
