<p>Correct, no placement exam for English. Everyone has to take a total of two English classes - freshman English which is ENGL101 (academic writing) and junior English which is ENGL393 (professional writing). The only way to get exempted from ENGL101 is to score a 4 or 5 on the English AP language and composition exam.</p>
<p>The placement exam for math is to ensure that you have the foundations required for college math since there is variation in the high school curricula. The highest “placement” you can get is MATH140, but if you get a 4 or 5 on the AP Calc BC exam, you can start at a higher level math like MATH241. </p>
