Hi, I am a UK student thinking of applying to US universities as a back up for Oxbridge. I will be applying to Oxford’s PPE program (https://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/courses-listing/philosophy-politics-and-economics?wssl=1) so would be looking to major in government/political science. Which American universities are renowned for their political science programs? My ideal choice would be either Stanford or Harvard, but obviously these are very competitive schools to be accepted into! From what I have gathered the application process varies by institution in the US, but most will require some combination of ACT or SAT tests. Are there any other scores and/or examinations that would be required from an international applicant? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Check out Georgetown, George Washington University as well
Also understand how expensive colleges are in the USA
Good luck with Oxbridge, and Stanford and Harvard. I don’t know the numbers for international applicants, but both of these schools accept under 5% of applicants. Many of the accepted students are “hooked.” For example, I know about a half dozen local students who’ve gone to Stanford in recent years. Every single one was a national-level, recruited athlete.
Some other outstanding schools that are excellent for government/political science but not quite so insane in terms of acceptance: Georgetown (almost as competitive as Stanford/Harvard), William and Mary, Tufts University, Dickinson College, Emory, and Holy Cross. I’ll note that William and Mary grads include Robert Gates (CIA Director/Secretary of Defense), James Comey (FBI Director), Jon Stewart, Jen Psaki (Obama State Dept. spokesperson/CNN Anaylst), and Serge Kovaleski (NYT reporter). Good luck!
