I have to decide between going to a south african or american university. the south african is way cheaper because it my home country. Now will I be considered for law school or mba if I start with a bcom law degree in south africa. Also will the sa degree be worth something on usa.

South African may be cheaper, but does it have the credibility and the resources that American University has?

Also, where do you plan on working? If you are planning on working in the U.S., there is an oversupply of lawyers in our nation. You’d be better off with an M.B.A, imo.

I certainly intend to eventually work in the us. The south african university is the best in africa(which doesn’t say much), but it is not quite as good as the american university. The american university is LSU(I know it’s no harvard). Will my degree be accepted in america? Also I intend to start with a BS econ degree in america and Bcom law degree in south africa

I honestly am not sure if your degree will be accepted, but I would definitely call American University to see if they would. And since you plan on working in this capitalistic nation and getting a BS in econ, I would go for the MBA…UNLESS you plan on practicing law in South Africa.

Good luck!
