Hi,

This thread is not actually meant for me. A friend of mine is planning on majoring in Architecture. He is an international student from Ethiopia seeking close to full aid. I know its almost impossible but his heart is set on Arch and he won’t choose anything else. Please recommend colleges that you know that have Architecture/Architectural engineering majors and give good aid. So far his list is RPI, WUSTL, Tulane and Drexel. PLEASE write your suggestions, this might be a matter of Life and Death (not really, but)

His stats are not the best but
SATs: 1790, CR: 480 MA: 690 WR: 620
GPA: 87/100
Rank: 6th/ 40 stu
Extracurriculars: decent I guess

Thank you

You should probably take a look at NJIT. There are a ton of international students here, and it is apparently one of the top 10 diverse campuses. I’m in one class where about half the students were born in another country. Also, the financial aid package is pretty decent. Tell your friend to apply for the honors college and to call the school. If he gets accepted into the honors college he has a great chance of getting a lot of financial aid.

^^ NJIT’s Honors college does give great aid to intl students but unfortunately my friend’s SAT score is below 1250 – the min SAT requirement for the Honors college – so he won’t be a candidate. Thanks a lot though

Oh come on! Someone, anyone please!

College Confidential doesn’t exactly have the most active Architecture forum. I can’t help you with your question, but I can recommend the following site, which is much more active and informative with regards to architecture-related discussion:

How about Pratt Institute or Illinois Institute of Technology?

Given he is an internatinal student, one can understand why his CR is so low. What is his TOEFL score? It may help him for scholarship?

I’m Ethiopian as well.
He should apply to Cooper Union – full scholarship tuition.

golflover
He took the TOEFL in January and I don’t think the results have arrived yet. I expect him to get well above 600 – pbt

trakwreka,
Wow, you’re from Ethiopia too huh. What school do you go to (if you’re still in highschool) or used to go to? Is there a decent Ethiopian population on CC? What college do you go to (are planning to go to)? major? other stuff like EC’s (not much to do here)? How do you find the US college application process for us Ethiopians?

Sorry 'bout the flood of questions, its just that I really haven’t found anyone who is going through (or has gone through) the same stuff I’m going through right now.

I’m in School of Tomorrow by the way, class of 2010
