International Relations for an International Student

Hi everyone!

I recently got back from traveling abroad and I spent some time in Tanzania and made some pretty great friends. One of my friends in particular contacted me looking for places to attend in the US that had a great international relations/affairs program but as I sifted through the ones people on here seemed to think were best (Georgetown, Tufts, George Washington, John’s Hopkins), I was disappointed to find that many of them did not offer any courses dealing with Sub-Saharan Africa. I can’t say for sure that because he’s from TZ this is what he would be looking for, but I admit it’s a bit discouraging for the majority of his entire continent to be omitted from the curriculum.

In short, does anyone have any IR programs that you could suggest to me that might mention Sub-Saharan Africa?

Does it just not exist?
