International Rescue Committee

Hi,

Although this isn’t strictly college admissions, I’d really appreciate some information about an internship with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The work seems cool, but I’d like to know (although, this would NOT be a principal motive for applying) about the prestige. People have told me that it’s a very competitive organization, in terms of jobs and internships, especially around New York City. If, by some miracle, I were to apply for a position, get accepted, and intern for a summer, (possibly receiving a LOR) would that be considered a “hook” for college admissions? Again, I don’t want to sound like that would be my only reason for applying (if I even decide to apply)–it’s just the one aspect I don’t have any knowledge about.
